Japan - Tokyo

Another bullet train to take us to our last stop of Tokyo. This time we actually got to see some bullet trains going through the station without stopping and boy do they go fast!

Tourists?  Us?

Kiki navigated us around Tokyo's complicated public transport system with ease and even bought us little apple custard pies with the money we saved on the free entrance to Kyoto castle - they were delicious!

We went up to a free observation floor in one of the tallest government buildings where they had 'Godzilla underpants' for sale, along with other Godzilla themed merchandise. I contemplated getting a pair as there are numerous awful chat up lines you could use while wearing them. "Have you ever seen Godzilla?", "There's a monster down there!" and so on. I decided against it eventually as I wouldn't want to seem tacky, would I?

There's also a Godzilla in the city somewhere.

Next we visited the famous Shibuya crossing, one of the busiest in the world, and made it a little busier.

Our last dinner was in a 'skewer bar', where almost everything was on skewers. Full of young, trendy kids (and us), and exceptionally reasonably priced - to my mind a much more enjoyable dinner than the terribly posh one the night before, though a little bittersweet as we were all saying goodbye.

Japan was definitely one of the best trips I've been on. Loads of really interesting things to see and do on a beautiful country, a lovely bunch of people on the trip all with a great sense of fun, and Kiki our awesome guide who brought us all together and showed us her wonderful country.
